Eclectic Bathroom Renovation

Double bathroom renovation in Needham, MA
Project Overview
This client's existing 1.5 bathrooms were not fulfilling the needs of their growing family of four. They requested a full renovation of the primary bathroom and of the powder room into a full bathroom. Severely lacking storage, the project goals included relocating the laundry room to create a spacious pantry and custom walk-in shower,
My Contributions
Led design for this project, fully responsible for the style boards, schematic designs, and final construction documentation of both bathrooms. Specified all FF&E and finishes for the project. Led the weekly construction management meetings, navigating any inquiries made by the clients or contractor. Made the necessary design decisions to provide solutions to any issues that arose.

The client's love of Southwestern style is represented in the design of the primary bathroom  through the handmade ceramic floor and Talavera shower niche tiles and the elements of earthy, warm tones mixed with bold contrasting colors.

During

Led the construction management and supervision for this project. Each week, we met with the contractor and clients to review the work completed that week, work planned for the next week, and address any questions or concerns from all stakeholders.

Vigilant attention to detail and quick decisions were often required when aspects of construction or finishing details did not align with project goals or deviated form the design intent.

As a family of four, the single full bathroom in the house was not enough to keep up with the family's busy lives. It was our task to make the seldom used powder room into a fully functioning bathroom, finding the best way to reconfigure the existing laundry room/pantry to incorporate a walk-in shower.
From peacock feather patterned tiles, and crocodile-skin textured wallpaper, to countertops reminiscent of zebra stripes and serpentine bathroom hardware, this design was inspired by the client's love of animal prints and figures. The dark and moody palette of the vision board strongly influenced final color selections.
